Looking for a particular movie scene

Movie buffs to the rescue! I remember a particular movie scene, but for the life of me I can't seem to find it again. Here's my recollection, does that sound familiar?

It's a movie about a fraudster playing catch up with the authorities (I thought it was "Catch Me If You Can", but that doesn't seem to contain this scene). It's set somewhere in the modern-day US. In one scene, the protagonist enters a hotel lobby of sorts where he meets someone else. Two plainclothes officers, who finally managed to locate him, emerge from the background, one of them addressing him by name. Irritated about the interruption, he says "Yes?" and turns around, only to be handed a court order, where one officer tells him something to the effect of "You have been served." and the other nods as a witness. As abruptly as they came, the officers turn around and walk away, leaving the protagonist dumbfounded at his silly mistake.

Now, does that scene exist, or is it all in my mind? Please help!
