Movie/ series title

Hello. I was on vacation last week and watching Showtime I think - I'm curious the title of the movie or series that started but I had to turn off to head out. It appeared to be a WW2 era plot with children playing like airplanes on the way home. A child enters the house to find movers and a commotion and his mother tells him that his father was just promoted. That's all I've got :)
