Name Of A Movie Where A Black Jazz Musician Gets Reprimanded By A Racist TV Producer For Talking To The Camera During a Live TV Show?

I remember seeing a movie in the early milennium that takes place in the 40s or 50s where jazz musicians are playing for a live TV broadcast. During one of their swing tunes, one of the musicians who was going to have an instrumental solo, he decided to improvise by looking at the camera and talking to the audience but as if it were only women. He said something so cool like "look at me baby, don't look at anybody but me baby" while the other musicians. of whom many were white, kept on playing and loved what he was doing and had fun except the TV producer. 

The producer at first said when he saw him on the monitor "who's he talking to?", but when the tune was over, he yelled in his face saying "don't you talk to people,  you can't talk to people!" (or something similar).  The black musician already knew that the producer's reaction was coming from racism, so he says something like "yeah, I know what the problem is, a black man talked....!".  (or something similar)

The TV producer looked like Christopher Lloyd but I looked up his filmography and can't find anything that resembles what I described.
