Name of movie? couple travels Mexico's natural scapes in a 4x4. They encounter a man with a gun that forces them drive him.

The criminal man was American I think. For a time I thought it was Clint Eastwood but seems like he was not. It was at first depicted as evil but it seems he was somewhat good. The husband in the couple didn't trust this character and was plotting a way to get rid of him, while the wife was starting to see a nicer side of this man.

The couple has to drive this man through rural areas. It was hot, summer climates. The couple doesn't know where are they being led.

I think at a point, the criminal wanted to enter a building. The couple is asked to remain in the car. By an odd trust, the couple decided to stay in the car. Not sure but I think something like that happened.

By the end of the movie they arrive at an old church in a desertic area. The criminal man went there to pray. A fight occurs here, because the husband decided to take action. I'm not sure who survived, but one of the man died in the church, and here's when the movie ends. Probably the criminal died, but the movie wants you to sympathize with him, because he wasn't all bad, and he had a connection with the wife. I think he defended her from the husband as he was being abusive (maybe), and was respectful.

The Movies from probably from the 90s or early 2000
