Possible '90s Movie about a Blonde Male in Latin America has sex with a local woman but starts focusing on an American woman afterwards?

The movie could have been between 1990-2004, but I think I saw it in the mid-to-late '90s. A blonde American guy travels to a rural part of a Latin American country (which was possibly a rain forest) and has sex with a local woman there. But then as he meets an American woman, he starts setting his focus on her after having sex with the local woman.  I don't know what he was doing there nor do I know what the American woman was doing there either.

I remember when he first meets the American woman, he immediately gets all excited and shifts his attention on her more. I'm not sure what happens next because I didn't see the whole movie.
