Question about supported character encoding for polls
Last year, I ran into repeated issues where some polls could not be published in time due to problems with character encoding. It appeared that certain characters were being rejected by the system. Dan_Dassow suggested that this might be related to charset problems.
I would like to clarify which character encoding formats are supported on your platform. There are several commonly used standards, and at least one of them seems to cause problems. I would therefore appreciate guidance on which formats are allowed.
From my understanding, the most relevant ones are:
- ASCII (this appears to work)
- Unicode (unclear)
- UTF-8 (unclear)
- UTF-16 (unclear)
- UTF-32 (unclear)
- ... ?
I am particularly concerned about future polls, for example related to Eurovision Song Contest entries, where artist names and song titles may include extended characters (e.g., Danish letters or other special characters). I would like to ensure that these can be used without issues.
It has also been observed that some special characters were accepted in the past and are still present in older poll entries, while more recent attempts to use similar characters have failed.
Could you please clarify which character encoding and character sets are fully supported, and whether there are any restrictions on specific characters? If I know the charset which is to be used, I can create the polls in a better way and let check chatGPT if the Intros and options are conform.
Thank you,
Breumaster. :D
