Trying to think of old film

Can someone help me think of film with a plot similar to Seven Days In May, Fail-Safe, and Dr. Strangelove about a rogue US military officer trying to lead a coup to start or prevent nuclear war. About all I can recall is the ending when his bunker under a desolate drive-in movie theater is found and raided by the “good guys”. Anyone recall such a movie from the 1969s or 1970s I think?
