What's the movie's name?!??

I've been trying to identify this movie for two-three years, literally. All I can recall is: - it's a crime mystery/ thriller cat-and-mouse - it's set in remote and/or snowy setting - it's most likely from 2000s to maybe 2015-6 - it's about a serial killer, child molester/kidnapper - the protagonist, a detective, searches all movie for the killer and, towards the end, drives past a single car accident in which the car is engulfed in fire, not realizing the guy he is tracking is actually dead inside. The suggestion is the killer is unidentified and the pursuit will fruitlessly go on forever. It's not One Hour Photo, Frozen Ground, Wind River, Insomnia, or Hold the Dark. For the life of me, I cannot recall the title or any of the actors.
