Freezes

I have used your app reliably for years. I am always finding interesting things to read about. However, in the last couple of weeks, I have been able to look for a movie or actor, but when the app opens about what I what I want, it freezes. I can only see what usually pops up, and that’s it — no scrolling, no returning to the search menu, nothing. I have removed and reinstalled the app. I have checked to make sure my iOS has been updated, I have removed the app and restarted my phone. The only thing I know of that I haven’t done is wipe my phone and reinstall everything, but I’ll do it if that would help. Any ideas? Looking at wiki for everything isn’t quite what your app is!! I’m going through IMBd withdrawal!!

I just saw your post and I have the same issue. I have an iPhone SE model, which may be the issue. I have been told that Tech support is looking into it, but haven’t heard back from them yet. Others with an SE phone have reported the issue, too.

Followed all recommended steps to solve issue, ie. updated software, restarted device, etc. 5. Works in laptop browser. 6. It’s been ongoing for approximately a week. I have the same issue. Also SE. tried everything. This has been going on for a long time now. I used to be able to search on browser but now automatically redirects without giving me the option. App version 15.8.5 IOS 18.5 Cannot use the app - once you search for anything it is totally frozen.

Everytime I search for a program, the app freezes as soon as the program page comes up. Doesn't happen on laptop or tablet—only iPhone SE. Anyone else have that issue? Thanks for your reply, but this situation occurred several times BEFORE I had an IMDb account but only on my iPhone SE (fully updated with the most recent iOS). The only reason I have this account is to get help with the issue. When I did, I noticed that there are others who've reported the same issue—one of them who also has an iPhone SE. One person who replied said he had reported it to a team. Since it appears to be a known issue, I hope IMDb will resolve the issue soon.

I also have an iPhone SE with the latest update, ios 18.5 and after using this app for multiple years it now freezes up on me. I have tried all of the solutions suggested and it still freezes. It does so randomly as I will enter a movie title and be able to scroll with no issues but then another title will freeze and I can’t scroll nor will hitting the back arrow work. Then another title will be fine again. Sometimes the first title I enter will freeze and sometimes it will freeze after a few entries worked with no issues. There is no rhyme or reason to it. I am frustrated beyond belief especially after seeing that the developers were notified ages ago. What is the hold up? As I said I have tried every solution the developers suggest.

Possible SOLUTION: I’ve had the same problem on my iPhone SE. iOS 18.5. Reinstalling didn’t work, but when I changed my display setting from Larger Text to Default, that did it. (Unfortunately, this isn’t really a solution for me, since I prefer the zoomed text on my smaller phone.)

Switching from zoomed text on my SE iPhone to default text does resolve the freezing issue, but like you I prefer the zoomed text. Hopefully, a solution can be found for this dilemma.

If using an IPhone SE... IF you're experiencing a "Freeze up" after loading IMDB; . Possible cause: Display Settings: Some users have reported resolving similar issues by changing their display settings from "Larger Text" to "Default" on their iPhone SE. and this did in fact work for me. It's located at the very bottom of Settings / Display & Brightness / display zoom (return to Default setting.

A quick update from the iOS team: Unfortunately, in addition to iPhone SE devices with large font settings, the freezing issue now extends to all iPhone users accessing IMDb lists over a certain number of items. We have traced the issue to a problem with iOS which was introduced by Apple in iOS 18.4 and which persists in all later versions of iOS. The good news is that Apple has addressed the bug in iOS 26 beta which is due to be released in September. The bad news is that release is three months away. In the meantime, the team are investigating potential workarounds for iOS 18.4/18.5 users until iOS 26 is available.

I'm not sure IOS26 fill properly install on an IPhone SE (2nd Gen) but I'll be testing that issue next weekend. I'll let this thread know of my results. A significant number of users use an IPhone SE, so you (the Company) may not want to abandon them.

I’m having the same issue. I’ve deleted and reloaded and updated. Still freezes when I try to look at most shows we watch on streaming. Bones is an example, but also on NCIS Original which is still running. Open the app, find the show and the screen just freezes. Useless.
