From top to bottom: The story of the iPad menu.

I would love to see the iPad (iPadOS) menu returned to its original position at the bottom of the screen. The top menu, imo, is in the worst possible place.

1. Fingers must travel further since they a naturally idle near the bottom of the screen.
2. Screen view is obstructed by the user’s hands when navigating from the top of the screen.

3. Navigation is inconsistent between iOS (bottom menu) and iPadOS.

I suspect Apple has heavily pushed this new iPadOS menu design. I’m just wondering if app developers have any say in the matter.

Thank you for your feedback but this is an Apple decision and unfortunately our app developers do not have say in the matter. -Jack D

I thought so. What a bummer—it’s so awkward. It might take app developers rallying together. Thanks for the reply, though.

I have learned that Apple does allow this menu (referred to by Apple as a “floating tab bar”) to be repositioned by the app user. There are two positions available: top or left-side. The idea is that the user has the personal choice. Presently, the menu, or “floating tab bar” rather, is locked in place—with no floating. I understand this is an iPadOS feature that IMDb app developers would have to turn on. App users love having choices and options. I hope this is something they will consider doing in a future update.
