I no long receive notification banners for new episodes on my iPhone.

Starting about a month ago I stopped receiving pop up banner notifications on the current shows I watched. Instead for a couple weeks I received the random notification from Apple TV instead, but even that has stopped. Ironically last week and today I did receive a notification for new episodes of Widow’s Bay through IMDB, which is an Apple TV show. However I still do not receive notifications for any other shows.

I checked my in app settings, where I turned everything off then back on, and logging out of my account and then back in did not help either. Since then I’ve signed up to be notified via e-mail, but that misses a show on occasion too, like ‘American Dad!’. I could not find anyone with the same issue, so I don’t know if this is a well known issue. What can I do?

In this case, we recommend you to uninstall the App and then re-install it. Please be advised that for the security of our members, we no longer some functionality for certain versions of the IMDb App on specific device operating systems (OS).

• For iOS, please ensure that your device is on iOS 17.0 or above

• For Android, please ensure that your device is on Android OS 11 or above

• For FireOS, please ensure that your devices is on FireOS 8.0 or above

Your IMDb mobile app should also be the following versions:

• For iOS, app version 14.16 or above

• For Android, app version 9.1.3 or above

• For FireOS, app version 9.1.3 or above

However, if you've confirmed that your device meets the criteria, please confirm and write us back with the following:

 Hi Jon, 

Thank you for the response and recommendations. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the app, and then waited a couple of days to see if the notifications would start up. Unfortunately I did not receive any, but the e-mail I signed up for in lieu of said notifications is still updating me instead. Attached below are the screenshots you requested as well as a shot of the notification settings to show that they are in fact turned on. Thank you and have a good evening.

I think I am forgetting a couple of titles, but I have not received a single notification for anything, with the exception of one show. Since about two weeks ago I have received a single notification a week for Widow’s Bay.

I tried removing my current shows from my watchlist  then adding them back, but that did not do anything.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news but it is not fixed on my end unfortunately. Earlier today I received an e-mail for a new episode of Murdoch Mysteries (image attached below), but there was no notification (see image in reply below) in the new tracked notifications area. To be honest at this point I’ll just continue to use the e-mail service, but I wanted to make you aware that the issue is on going.

About the new notification tracking, I wanted to thank you all for adding that. It’s definitely something that was needed and it is nice to know the notifications can be tracked and viewed in the app.

About a month ago I posted about an issue where I no longer receive the notification banners for new episodes of active shows on my watch list. There was some back and forth replies where I provided phone, app details, and the names of some of the shows I would normally receive notifications for. Then for 20 days I didn’t hear back, until last weekend when there was a response that simply said the following.

“Hi @Spike2pt0​,

Thank you for your patience. 

Our technical team has fixed the issue.”

Unfortunately the issue was (and is) in fact ongoing still. I replied the same day with photos of the e-mail I received for a new episode and of the new in-app notification center missing the same notification. The photos will be attached below, with one posted as a reply. However there was no further response and the post was just marked solved.

If this is an ongoing issue that doesn’t have a fix at the moment, that is fine, and I understand this isn’t an app-crippling bug or anything. As it stands the issue persists.

Hi @Spike2pt0​,

I've consulted with our technical about the notification not displaying on your phone or your IMDb app despite receiving the email notification of the new episode of Murdoch Mysteries.

Currently the now streaming or new episode notifications on your app only works for a subset of streaming providers. The new episodes of the series are streaming on a non supported provider. I hope this clears up the confusion.

We are always working on ways to improve the IMDb app and I was sure to share this feedback with the team for consideration in future updates

The providers that are streaming new episode of Murdoch Mysteries have been added to the supported providers off app notifications. Let us know if you don't receive the notification on your phone or app of the new episode of the series.
