What happened to "top picks for you"?

The recommandations-list under "top picks" is gone for me on both website and app. Is that permanent, or will it be back at some point?

@BenjiBlaakilde On the site you can always access “Top picks” at https://www.imdb.com/what-to-watch/top-picks/ which you can reach via the “Get more recommendations” link over on the right of the “What to Watch” heading.  What happens is that when you have titles in your watchlist which are available to view, then the “Top picks” widget is replaced by the “From your watchlist” widget — this is because customer testing shows that this widget performs better since it is more personal and specific.

You can also access “Top picks” on the site via the “Menu” link to the left of the search box at the top of every IMDb page. On the menu see “What to watch” under the “Watch” section.

For the IMDb app, are you using an iOS or Android device?

I've attached screenshots of what it looks like in the app and on web. The app (IOS) just shows lists of popular titles, and on web it seems to be suggesting that I haven't rated enough titles (I have rated over 1200).

@BenjiBlaakilde Thanks for the problem report. The issue with "Top Picks" on the web has now been fixed.

We believe the same fix may have also corrected the problem on the iOS app as we can no longer reproduce it.  How does it look for you now on the app?

The "top picks"-list of recommendations is gone on both the app and on the website for me. Note: This comment was created from a merged conversation Link : https://community-imdb.sprinklr.com/conversations/imdbcom/is-top-picks-down/68023e9f6bafae19d461e8b5 Title : Is top picks down?

Thanks for the problem report. What happens if you visit https://www.imdb.com/what-to-watch/top-picks/ directly? Are you using the iOS or Android app?

The list shows up via the link on pc but not on IOS on neither the app nor in browser. The top picks-list is also gone from the front page on all devices.

Thanks for confirming @benjiblaakilde. Are you able to try uninstalling and reinstalling the app?

I just did. Nothing changed. It is the same problem as this thread: https://community-imdb.sprinklr.com/conversations/imdbcom/what-happened-to-top-picks-for-you/679ba962405fd90243024b7d?commentId=679bb62b8b60d144fb2457e5

@BenjiBlaakilde As we explained above the last time you asked, the “Top Picks” section is available on the site at https://www.imdb.com/what-to-watch/top-picks/ — it is no longer included on the home page when you have titles available for viewing in your Watchlist. We have combined your two posts into one thread for context and moved this to the iOS category on Sprinklr for investigation since your issue is specific to the app. This does not appear to be a general app problem though as we can still access “Top Picks” on the app home screen.

It's now back on the home screen on both the app and desktop (also on the homepage, even though you mentioned it shouldn't be). I'm not sure what causes these lapses where it disappears for a few days, but I'm really glad it's back – I genuinely enjoy the feature, and it helps me decide what movies to watch, as the recommendation algorithm is pretty spot-on.
