When a new author suggests the same poll as an established poll author, we will give consideration to the new author and ask the established author to defer to the new author.

Vandurath also suggested this category slightly after you. Since you are an established author and already have several category polls, I would appreciate if you withdrew this suggestion.

@Jessica I was already converting it to Poll Sugg.: Emmys 2026 — Outstanding Supporting Actor [Ltd. Series/Anthology/Movie] (6-Option Poll) from Emmys 2026 — Outstanding Supporting Actress [Drama Series].

OK thanks, but I still don't see the rush, Urb, especially when you and Gabriel already have more than the rest.

I mean, now there's only one major category left and maybe Kirk wanted to take more, maybe someone else did. We'll never know.

@Jessica Please, do not put me in the same category as Gabriel.

If anyone wants these polls, I am will gladly defer to anyone except Gabriel. In fact, I will leave my post threads as back-up and not formally request them on the Emmys FAQ thread, in case there is there is an anticipated rush of people who want them. All they have to do is copy from my lists.

Urb, you know I don't think you and Gabriel are the same (far from it), but you do have the most Emmy suggestions along with him.

I know you will defer to other users if the time comes, but I just don't see the need to post this category right now then. I wish Gabriel had waited longer too.

Personally I think we should have set a limit of number of Emmy category suggestions per user, but apparently it wasn't "needed".

Surely Kirk and others have had ample opportunity.

@Jessica I probably would have only made two suggestions this cycle, but I have hard time sitting by and watching one person hoard all the suggestions. I wasn't even going to suggest more, but I did as a knee-jerk reaction to another posting.  I would advocate for a cap on the number of poll suggestions per each ceremony. If you feel to need to relax the limit based on participation after three to four weeks, then you can do it. Personally, I would have beat the bushes to drum up more participation the first week of announcements with targeted emails or targeted posts. IMHO, the low participation situation that exists now function of several different reason, but letting one contributor run amok plays a large part and then rewarding them for their behavior is huge. I think these caps should apply to all future Award poll and will reduce your dependence on a single user. Plus, eight poll suggestions per user per ceremony is plenty.

2027 Emmy Weekly Cap

@ 1 Emmy Major

@ 1 Emmy Minor

@ 2 Emmy-related (specific ceremony)

2027 Emmy Total Cap

@ 2 Emmy Major

@ 2 Emmy Minor

@ 4 Emmy-related (specific ceremony)

It looks to me like Gabriel is currently following the award guidelines to the letter and you are not.

@Peter_pbn, I would argue your assessment is completely ignorant of the facts.

Please initially limit your poll suggestions to one category from part 2 and one category from part 3 to allow other poll authors the chance to suggest 2026 Emmy Award related polls. If you do not wish to select a category from part 2, you may instead select two categories from part 3. If someone has not created a poll for a category after one week after the announcement, that category is open to everyone. However, please limit yourself to 2 Emmy category polls per week. Also, please limit yourself to 2 Emmy non-category polls per week.

Every award ceremony he disregards the rules. This happens multiple times each year and he acts like it is the first time he has heard of these limits. For Emmys 2026 alone, he requested three major awards in the first half-hour of the nomination announcement, when he was only entitled to one request in fairness to others. He tried to slip them through by not formally requesting them right away, but posting them on the board, so others wouldn't request them. He only stopped over requesting award poll requests, when he was called out for his actions (not by you). Then, he went on to disregarded the the 2026 Emmys-related poll suggestion limit of two per week and requested four in the first week (only stopping after being called out).

Just to be clear, I am not requesting any of these polls.

@urbanemovies

I meant currently, sorry.

You posted suggestions, so you are making a confusing distinction to me between requests and suggestions. Maybe one might say Gabriel was doing a similar thing with his early suggestions.

Also, the unusual formatting of your titles, suddenly with brackets which don't follow the suggested format.

Nice to see that someone agrees with me on that.

Sure, but you know Kirk is not as active on the board as Urb and Gabriel. Last week, he picked his first category, but it was already taken, so I asked him to choose another when I saw that you had selected Urb's poll for Monday. We hadn't assigned that category to anyone which made Kirk think it was still open.

So he suggested two other categories this week, which means he has to wait until next week to suggest two more. With a limit of max three or four he could have taken a third category right away and we could have skipped the whole two per week rule.

Just to be clear, I am not requesting any of these polls.

I understand Urb, but I still don't see why it was necessary to post them. It will likely just be more threads for you to delete.

In my mind, he could have suggested up to six last week since it had been three weeks since the nominations were announced and he hadn't picked anything until then. I doubt anyone would have objected, but I guess it is unclear.

By the way, I believe KP's selections were all made "last week" since I believe the week starts the weekday the nominations were announced, Wednesday.

I never knew that. Why have we not clarified that in the guidelines?

Didn't know that either and it doesn't really make sense to me. I wonder if everyone else knows that. It should also be in the guidelines, don't you think?

Dan in a post two years ago:

We are in the second week.

Please limit your poll suggestions to four (4) category polls to allow other poll authors the chance to suggest 2024 Academy Award related polls.

So Dan's intention also seemed to be that it was a total of four categories per person by the second week, no matter if the person had suggested something in the first week.

Though they are not my guidelines I can help with suggesting a clarification, but not today. We can also discuss the idea of future limits on number of polls, perhaps in a new thread. I would want to see a proposal for a version of the guidelines that you think would work better.

@Jessica I posted the suggestions with the best intentions. I don't think this shakes out the way you think it will. But, I decided to delete them.
