Live Poll: Face-Off: Louise Bryant vs. Bessie

Although she is usually described as a comedy actress, Diane Keaton didn't limit her performances to a single genre and in her career, she also excelled in dramatic roles which include films like The Godfather or Looking for Mr. Goodbar. Out of her four Oscar nominations, two were for dramatic roles. She played Louise Bryant, a feminist, suffragist, and journalist married to the communist journalist John Reed in Reds, and she played Bessie a woman diagnosed with leukemia who needs a bone marrow transplant and who turns for help to her sister with whom she has been estranged for 20 years in Marvin's Room. Which of these dramatic Oscar nominated roles by Diane Keaton is your favorite? https://www.imdb.com/list/ls4155499800/

I love this poll, Pencho, and I'm sure it doesn't surprise you that I'm a huge Louise Bryant fan. In fact, I gave one my cats the middle name Louise, lol. I also love 'Reds' and think it's one of the great love stories in cinema. As great as she was in Marvin's Room, I think that she was even more extraordinary in Reds so that will get my vote. Of course, I could be biased. : ) By the way, the intro is beautifully written.

Thanks. I still have to watch Reds, for some reason I tend to make Face-Off polls where I haven't watched both options and can't vote. Probably an unconscious inspiration to watch what I'm missing.

I have not seen Reds. And it looks like they had a 4k restoration released in 2022. Probably delayed by COVID since it missed its 40th anniversary. Maybe they'll give it a theatrical rerelease next year for its 45th anniversary.
