Did you also consider characters that played Dr. Frankenstein in a Dr. Frankenstein-like movie as a concept of Frankenstein, or has it to be exact the story of Frankenstein or losely based on Mary Shelley's Frankenstein? Because I'd know two characters which are close: https://www.imdb.com/de/title/tt14230458/mediaviewer/rm831545089/ Godwin Baxter and https://www.imdb.com/de/title/tt0073629/mediaviewer/rm1078040576/ Dr. Frank-N-Furter

This poll focuses on the characters of Dr. Frankenstein. It doesn't consider other concepts or adaptations. The character name is Dr. Frankenstain. Thanks anyway for your suggestions.

EDEN YOUNG in I, Frankenstein (2014) is my choice...

ADEN YOUNG briefly appears in the 2014 film 'I, Frankenstein (2014)', but it was a good scene. For me JAMES MCAVOY did a great job with this character.

Dan, mine is also Gene Wilde. That Mel Brooks movie is one of the funniest he did.

Gene Wilder's performance was a comedic interpretation with emotional depth.

@GabrielFox, I consider Gene Wilder's performance as Dr. FrankenSTEEN to be the definitive version of Frankenstein. Young Frankenstein is in my top 10 favorite films.

It's so d*mn funny! I love it! The humor is timeless. Hope Mel Brooks feels well. Next year he turns 100. I must do a poll about! June 28, 2026. In fact we should all do polls for to honour his genius.

Good poll! I suggest the following edits: Dr. Frankenstein is a character who appears in Mary Shelley's 1818 novel 'Frankenstein.' (1. The book title can be in italics or in quotation marks but not both. 2. If you use quotation marks (more correct for AP style, which IMDb uses, they should be single qtn. marks as shown here, not double. 3. The period goes inside the qtn. marks.) He's a scientist who, after studying chemical processes and the decay of living things, gains an insight into the creation of life and gives life to his own creature. (Adding "He's a" or "He is a" or "Dr, Frankenstein is" makes this a complete sentence. Without it, it's a fragment.) Tip: Click here to view the images fully in a slideshow. ('Replacing "posters" with "images" or "photographs.")
