Well, The Incredible Hulk is part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and the events of it take place before those of The Avengers. I'm not aware of any continuity problems regarding these facts either. Within continuity, whereas Bruce Banner was recast, Thaddeus Ross hasn't. I've no idea why there hasn't been any follow up as to what Betty Ross has been doing since she last saw the Hulk. Kevin Feige has just sort of neglected the Hulk world. Just to note, the movie Hulk, directed by Ang Lee, is not part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and The Incredible Hulk certainly partially retconned it by virtue of a flashback sequence.
Why isn't it a phase one film though? Sure, they recasted the character and they never did a sequel but the film still has its place in the MCU. William Hurt reprised his role from Hulk in Civil War, Infinity War and Endgame. And now Tim Roth is also set to reprise his role in the upcoming She-Hulk TV Series.
I didn't even know about the upcoming television series. Cool. I hope it works out. I recall Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. had a really amazing start, but it somehow become somewhat disconnected from the progress of The Avengers movies, since Joss Whedon's involvement in the third phase was lessened.
Congratulations, eagles90!
