You've done a lot of work putting all of these Christmas movie lists together.  Thank you in advance for the time and effort.

I lost a daughter at Christmas time back in 1994.  She died because of the effects of a grand mal epileptic seizure in the middle of the night and I found her in her crib in the morning.  As a result, Christmas is a hard time of the year for me.

One of the things that brightens my spirit and makes me be able to be around others at this time of the year are the sappy and saccarine sweet Chritsmas movies.  Yes, they can be cheesy, but they always have happy endings and show loving families and relationships.  They are what I want and need every year to brighten my spirit and my mood.

Sorry for oversharing, but Christmas movies are important to my holiday celebration and my mental health.

@TheOldJalapenoman I can identify these types of Christmas movies are my guilty pleasure too, the sappier they are, the better they seem to be, and I find I am more forgiving of bad writing and bad acting than in this genre, than in any other type of movie genre. You will be happy to hear the three primary holiday TV movie players (Hallmark, Lifetime, and Great American) that host Christmas movie festivals, will all be airing record-breaking levels of holiday movie content this season. Christmas will start earlier, end later, run longer and be bigger this year, when it comes to Christmas movies. Early press announcements indicate a 33%-50% boost in Christmas content in 2026 over the 2025 level from the primary players. The joy that viewers like you derive from holiday films is the primary driver of network's decision to expand Christmas.

"This phased structure represents Lifetime’s most ambitious holiday programming architecture to date—and signals a long-term shift toward treating the “holiday season” as a 12-week cultural window rather than a four-week sprint."

WhiIe, not the same as your loss, I can identify with your take on Christmas movies. I was particularly close to my maternal grandfather, who was born on Christmas day in 1908 and died on Thanksgiving in 1992, so I think of him often during the holidays. You are not alone in finding joy in Christmas movies all year long.

@urbanemovies   Yes, in 1994 I spent a terrible five days:

found my daughter dead in her crib on the 23rd

spent the 24th shopping for a dress to bury her in

spent a really hard 25th with my wife and three other children, seeing a stack of unopened presents left under the Christmas tree

welcomed lots of family into town on the 26th who traveled in for the funeral

had the funeral and buried her on the 27th

@TheOldJalapenoman My sincere condolences, I can understand why the holiday season brings up a lot of memories.

The idea of linking the IMDb plot doesn't really work when links are not clickable in the poll options.

@Peter_pbn Thanks, for the update. I wasn't aware that IMDb removed that option when they reworked everything over the past two years.

@urbanemovies

Regarding Peter's comment, perhaps it would be better to add the plot summaries as text and remove the links?

@Jessica I made the conversion from the use a IMDb plot hyperlinks to individual plot summaries for each Christmas movie option in the answer pool.

FYC, The "Great American Christmas" movie event starts eight days earlier with 'A Second Chance Christmas' premiering on October 8, 2026 on Great American Pure Flix. It will also air on Great American Family and GFAM+ on October 10, 2026. 'While, 'Tis the Season for Setups' premieres on October 16, 2026, at 8 p.m. ET/PT on the Hallmark Channel. It will be available to stream the next day, October 17, 2026, on Hallmark+, officially kicking off Hallmark's "Countdown to Christmas" movie event. The other poll suggestions will be ready soon and will have their first movies debuting as soon as October 9, 2026 (theatrical).

So, maybe it would be best to lead off with the GAC poll suggestion first,  the Hallmark poll suggestion second, and the theatrical suggestion third.
