According to Wikipedia, Crocodilia is an order of mostly large, predatory, semiaquatic reptiles known as crocodilians.  Crocodylians are further divided into three superfamilies: Alligatoroidea and Crocodyloidea and Gavialoidea. They first appeared 94 million years ago in the Late Cretaceous period (Cenomanian stage) and are the closest living relatives of birds, as the two groups are the only known survivors of the Archosauria.

@ACT_1 Thanks, that is a pretty good one, especially with the notable Wilhelm scream trivia. When I started this poll suggestion, I would have never guessed there are hundreds of noteworthy alligator and crocodile movie scenes. So, while this movie had a pretty decent scene, and had some stills that would work well in a poll, it wasn't as ferocious as some of the other movies, or as well as well-known a movie to make the cut.  I left another thirty plus options on the sidelines.

Yes, I searched the keywords: alligator, crocodile, and gator and checked every movie's plot with over 5000 IMDb votes, and even some below that (top 100 titles for all three terms were checked). These movies either ended up in or out of the answer pool, but due to the strength of the answer pool were either omitted or were included for the reason cited:

On the Outside, Looking In Answer Pool Exclusions

I excluded some movies in the answer pool with higher votes, or very  ferocious all-crocodillian plots for cause:

popular well known crocodillian characters, but not ferocious enough to be included in answer pool

very ferocious attacks, all-crocodillian plots but plenty of more recent and older better crocodillian attack genre films available to vote for, it is hard to see these getting votes with 10 films that did it better

Notable films that were well-seen and did well across a wide spectrum of criteria and were omitted, just a lot films that did it better

On the Inside, Looking Out Answer Pool Inclusions

I included some movies in the answer pool with lower votes, but they had to be best of their type

i.e. like the post-Jaws, alligator rip-off movies, etc.

or with an Dr. Evil or Bond villain like alligator torture scene

or with a brief single crocodile attack scene (very ferocious, very memorable, well-seen scene)

@urbanemovies ,

I would not have thought of French tennis player and businessman René Lacoste (AKA "Le Crocodile") for this poll, but it is a great choice. I don't remember wearing any clothing from his company.

I'm somewhat surprised that there are no mentions of caimans.

See you later, alligator.
After while, crocodile.

I think limiting myself to the order and three super families is enough without listing every genus. Caiman characters are eligible as being part of the Alligator superfamily and Crocodylian order. The only noteworthy Caiman character,  Dorohedoro I was able to find has been limited to TV, and has yet to appear in a movie. It is posted above in the thread, I didn't think poll takers want to here about the scientific stuff.

@dan_dassow,

I thought with 32 "straight" answer choices, the poll doesn't lose anything by omitting three choices and gains another dimension by adding three "oddball" choices that still fit the spirit of poll by being both crocodylian-connected and ferocious. Rene Lacoste checks both boxes with his nickname and tenacity and ferocious style of tennis play, much like a crocodille. It didn't hurt that he so embraced the nickname. It always amazes me about how random events, like looking in a shop window can define our lives (see story below).

Other "oddball", crocodylian-connected and ferocious, choices left of the sidelines:
