I suggest two minor edits: #2: in 1960s' California (I added a possessive apostrophe after 1960s) #8: To differentiate the two factoids and make it a bit easier on the eyes, I'd use something more noticeable than hyphens, such as numbers 1) and 2) or asterisks or even em dashes 'No big deal, though, of course.
