Live Poll: Rest in Peace, Robert Redford

Intro: The highly acclaimed actor, producer and director, Robert Redford, passed on September 16, 2025, in Sundance, Utah, USA. Redford was born on August 18, 1936, in Santa Monica, California, USA. On his way through the film business, he had many successful highlights like his role of the Sundance Kid in Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid (1969) and Johnny Hooker in The Sting (1973). He often played beside other top-class cast. Robert Redford also was an environmental activist and advocate for the Hopi natives. The noble and charismatic philanthropist passed peacefully while sleeping. Of his 22 highest rated movies on IMDb, which do you consider to be your favorite? (Only movies he had a visual role in are considered.) Please condole here. Suggestions: You may check if I did miss a role in this top 22 rated movies, but please remember - his credits as an actor, should be in his top 22 rated movies. No voice role only. No archive material within the movie, only real roles he had. Two other movies have the same ratings as All Is Lost: The Last Castle and Our Souls at Night.

Since GabrielFox made up another Thread and list with Redfords characters, I edited the list a little to concentrate on the movies. Roles are mentioned in the options, but the movies are now the main subject.

I can't believe he died. He always seemed so omnipresent, as if he'd live forever. What a loss. But what a nice memorial poll. Thanks for doing this, Breu. Oh, and I think it's great that you mentioned his activism and philanthropy. I suggested some edits: The highly acclaimed actor, producer and director, Robert Redford, passed on September 16, 2025, in Sundance, Utah, USA. Thank you for pointing out good edits, Ruby. Since there are five links in the Intro, I didn't copy and paste, but have gone throughout the whole text by comparing. Would you please look at it and point out, if I missed any points of your edit? Thank you in advance. :D

He mostly always was very sympathetic. That's also how he was perceived overseas. A very sympathetic American. Everybody I know did like him, when he was a subject talking about his movies. I guess my fav will be 'The Sting'. Great movie!

Found a few things I missed. Hope I got all changes now. Thank you, I didn't get how many little things I can do wrong. :D That was about 15-20 changes, mostly about ",", "...ly", "the", ... ;)

Thank you, Dan. A very sad occasion. I feel honored to have written the obituary poll. He was a great man. For me he stands in a line with Jim Lovell and Sean Connery.

Both, Jeremiah Johnson and Butch Cassidy and Sundance Kid are also among my favorite movies, but I give the edge to The Natural (1984), Role: Roy Hobbs for me.
