Live Poll: Technically, the Best Oscar Movies Ever

In nearly a century, only six movies have ever been nominated for an Oscar in all of the current technical categories: Cinematography, Film Editing, Visual Effects, Sound Mixing, Sound Editing (1963 to 2019), Production Design and Costume Design.

Which movie nominated for an Oscar in every technical category is the best, technically speaking of course?

Live Poll: https://www.imdb.com/poll/PHJisHOkRww/

Beginning with the 93rd Academy Awards, Best Sound Editing was combined with Best Sound Mixing into a single award for Best Sound.

I wonder why makeup is not considered one of the technical awards.

@urbanemovies

Well, they say 'make up artist', don't they? That reminds me of that 'glamour technician' term in Steel Magnolias...

Maybe because some arts need a scientific way to be carried on and can be called 'technical' and some technical works need a more artistic approach and are then defined as arts...

I gotta think Production Design and Costume Design should fall into the same situation requiring equal parts technical skill and artistic talent. Likewise, you could probably make the same arguement that in order to excell in painting and cinematography you need to master both the technical aspects and artistic aspects. Yet, most people percieve one more artistic than the other.

"Ryan Coogler’s stylish vampire drama, Sinners, just made Academy Award history. The film, which stars Michael B. Jordan in twin roles, earned 16 Oscar nominations, breaking the previous record of 14.

That record was held by Joseph L. Mankiewicz’s All About Eve (1950), James Cameron’s Titanic (1997) and Damien Chazelle’s La La Land (2016) – films that managed to perform well in both acting and technical categories.

Sinners was nominated in every technical category. This is only the seventh time this has happened at the Academy Awards. The only other films to snag this many technical category nominations include Titanic (1997), Master and Commander (2003), Hugo (2011), The Revenant (2015), Mad Max: Fury Road (2015) and Dune (2021)."
