Good idea (and clever) but why Farinelli when you have Fargo, Fantasia, Fast and Furious?

On the other hand Farinelli and La La Land are the only two movies of this list, which are about  music as a main subject.

Then how about "Fame"?

Would be also ok, sure. But what is bad about Farinelli? Why does it have to be another movie?

Would we agree that "Fame" is a little more famous than "Farinelli"... without necessarily being superior to it?

I like the idea of music-related films starting with the notes, in fact, that's the way I would have made the poll if I had the initial inspiration, but then the wise choice would be to put what one would reasonably consider the most popular....

As a matter of fact, I wouldn't even put "Fame", "Fantasia" is the definite film about music :) I agree it's difficult to find musical films with these parameters but if we ask: which of these films have the best music, then it would make sense to include some outsiders:

Doctor Zhivago (Maurice Jarre)

Requiem for a Dream (Lux Aeterna)

Mission (The) (One of Ennio Morricon's most haunting scores, if not the best)

Fantasia (various)

Solaris (couldn't find an alternative lol)

La Vie en Rose (or La Môme) (Edith Piaf)

Singin' in the Rain (obviously)

Asking for "favorite" kind of dilutes the charm of the idea, if the poll is about music, let's stick to the music :)

Sounds a little like you don't like classical music. Did you ever like these tracks in Farinelli?

I even dared to make polls for Beethoven, even though I knew they won't catch

tons of voters. But it was worth for me to dare it, even though the popularity was low.

Beethoven was a real genius and deserved it.

And also video game polls which gather close to 40 votes up to the morning of next days are released. So what's your fear about the one single option "Farinelli"? It might be boring to you, but I still hope that classical music will revive some day. I'm totally ok with Mario's choice of Farinelli. If he had chosen Fame from beginning I wouldn't have complaint about it.

I'm surprised. thought you'd have a better opinion about me. It had nothing to do with "Farinelli". If I didn't like classical music, would I have suggested "Fantasia" ?

The thing with IMDb polls is that the lesser known films tend to get less votes regardless of their qualities. So if you ask for the favorite, you're likely to have the more famous / popular film being the 'most' favorite.

I'm reasoning in terms of poll-making, it's strictly business, nothing personal against "Farinelli". Now, if the sole satisfaction comes from giving a shot to a movie that is seldom mentioned in polls, then, yes, good idea, all for it...

But I would rather have it in a poll about "Underrated Music Films" or "Greatest Films About Classical Music" (and even then, you'll have "Amadeus" winning)

I also have some gems I absolutely adore and I wouldn't miss an opportunity to include them, but then I'll try to make something not relying on popularity. It's just the predictability of the result that I don't like.

Another thing, that wouldn't be an issue if 95% of the polls didn't have the chance to make more than 1.000 votes in a day (they're lucky if they have 300). When polls could make 10.000 votes a day, yes, you could mix popular movies with lesser-known ones. With today's format, you can have one entry in your poll that doesn't get more than 5 votes in one single day.

I've been making polls for more than 10 years, when I express a criticism, please don't make the assumption that I hold a grudge against a certain type of films, most of the times I'm just trying to find a way to make a poll more viable given the actual parameters.

And we're only brainstorming, I know I can sound too sure of myself at times but I'm trying to be constructive... right now, I'm thing of this:

Face-Off: Favorite Music Film Starting with Fa

Farinelli

Fame

Fantasia

@Breumaster @ElMaruecan82

thank you for your comments, I will coopt some of your suggestions ;)

I put some titles that I did not like (as Midsommar) because at that time I could not think of anything better.

I will keep Farinelli because I want to promote this movie. Fantasia does not need free subliminal advertisement.

I hope nobody notices that the Syllabification is completely wrong, it is just a little fun poll...
