Live Poll: Weirdest Sitcoms

Which of these situation comedies has the trippiest premises?

LIST: https://www.imdb.com/list/ls099945488/
POLL: https://www.imdb.com/poll/REeD8DybAIw/

*No reality television series or parody/sketch series. Weird does not necessarily equal bad. Though, they do tend to often overlap.

You're heavy on animation even without Mr. Pickles, the demonic dog. For live action, consider Bosom Buddies.

Heil Honey certainly has the trippiest title.

I had previously hovered over putting and not putting Bosom Buddies on the list. I guess this will be enough to add it.

Tsar,

For your consideration:

Mister Ed (1958–1966)
Mister Ed (Himself) is a horse who is owned by Wilbur Post (Alan Young). Mister Ed is not just any horse, he talks to Wilbur. But this gets Wilbur in all kinds of trouble because Mister Ed won't talk to anyone else, so Carol (Connie Hines), Wilbur's wife, thinks that Wilbur loves Mister Ed more then he loves her, because he spends so much time with Mister Ed. Mister Ed also talks on the telephone and goes out of his barn to cause mischief, for which Wilbur gets blamed.

My Living Doll (1964–1965)
A psychiatrist is given care of Rhoda Miller "real name 'AF 709'", a lifelike sophisticated but naïve android, which eventually learns how human society works and begins showing "or at least emulating" rudimentary emotions.

Mork & Mindy (1978–1982)
A wacky alien comes to Earth to study its residents and the life of the human woman he boards with is never the same.

3rd Rock from the Sun (1996–2001)
A group of aliens are sent to Earth, disguised as a human family, to experience and report life on the third planet from the sun.

Harry and the Hendersons (1987)
The Henderson family adopt a friendly Sasquatch but have a hard time trying to keep the legend of 'Bigfoot' a secret.

Harry and the Hendersons is a movie.

Added the other options. Ya big weirdo.

Tsar,

I mistakenly posted the movie instead of the television series.
Harry and the Hendersons (1991–1993)
The Hendersons were a typical family living in the Pacific Northwest who owned an unusual pet: a real live Sasquatch. While on a camping trip, the Hendersons found Bigfoot, and brought him back to their house to live with them. Problems ensue while trying to repair the damage caused by Harry's curious nature, and while trying to keep his existence a secret.

I may on occasion have unusual taste in television series, but I am mostly harmless.

Dan reminded me of My Favorite Martian, which arguably set the table for Mork, Alf and others.

Mark Glass,

You may remember the Jerry Lewis film, Visit to a Small Planet (1960). One could argue that this film set the stage for My Favorite Martian (1963–1966). My Favorite Martian was one of my favorite shows when I was growing up.

Mark Glass,

Trivia question: What was canned ensor on My Favorite Martian?
Hint: It relates to something that Mrs. Lorelei Brown heard.

Dan - One of my favorites at the time, too. This exchange also reminded me of Topper, with two human ghosts plus their alcoholic Saint Bernard (Neil). The latter was a TV addition that wasn't in the source novels and movies.

Hahaha, this is so funny (and what a good idea!). I haven't seen either of these but, just from the descriptions, I'm going to vote "My Mother the Car" or "Heat Vision and Jack." : )

rubyfruit76,

I vividly remember reading a TV Guide article that categorically stated that My Mother the Car (1965–1966) is the second worst TV series ever made.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/My_Mother_the_Car
Critics and adult viewers generally disliked the show, often savagely. In 2002, TV Guide proclaimed it to be the second-worst of all time, behind The Jerry Springer Show.[1]

Cosgrove-Mather, Bootie (July 12, 2002). "The Worst TV Shows Ever, 'The Jerry Springer Show' Tops TV Guide's List Of Worst Shows – CBS News". cbsnews.com. CBS Broadcasting Inc. Retrieved July 12, 2015.

I watched most of the series when it first aired. In my humble opinion, the show was mediocre but hardly as bad a TV Guide stated.

In the question, I think it should say "has the trippiest premise?" (singular)

Thanks, Peter. The question has been edited accordingly.

Tsar, it would be helpful if you included the premises in the descriptions.

I'm contemplating doing a sequel poll for this. In that case, I will belatedly follow your much sage advice.

"Sheriff Who".  A comedy starring John Astin as a bad guy controlling a wild west town. Every week there's a new Sheriff that he runs out of town.  The townspeople like him because he shares some of his robbery loot with them. Unsold pilot shown one time in 1967.  Saw a 240p version on the net a few years back.

If you liked that pilot enough to still remember it, you must have loved his western movie. Evil Roy Slade. I certainly did.

A very raunchy honorable mention goes to the very difficult to find and uproariously hysterical,  (2020– ).

From elves to succubi to fairies and more, Our heroes: Stunk, a human, Zel, an elf and a hermaphrodite angel named Crimvael are here to rate the red-light delights of all manner of monster girls.

Basically, the plot revolves around a small group of adventurers as they go around town reviewing the many interspecific-run brothels. Definitely NSFW (even with the provided censor bars and such similar tactics).
