Poll Suggestion: Face-Off: All-Time IMDb Top 250 Best Vintage

At its most basic description, the meaning of vintage is the year when a wine's grapes were harvested. Even if two particular wines are from the same vineyard and are the same varietal, made with all the same techniques, a 2011 will taste quite different than a 2017. That differentiation affects price, availability and enthusiasm for a bottle. Which is your favorite year of IMDb Top 250 productions? Note from cinephile: IMDb's Top 250 was installed in 1996. Therefore, it isn't surprising to see films of the years 1996, 1995, 1994. Back then, the criteria were more inclusive, shorts, mini-series, videos, TV movies, TV episodes and TV series were eligible, moreover, the minimum number of votes was lower. The Top 250 criteria have changed a lot in 25 years. https://www.imdb.com/list/ls507052744/

IMDb's Top 250 was installed in 1996. Therefore, it isn't surprising to see films of the years 1996, 1995, 1994. Back then, the criteria were also more inclusive, shorts were eligible, the minimum number of votes was lower. For example, Shorts: The Wrong Trousers (1993), A Close Shave (1995), A Grand Day Out (1989), Un chien andalou (1929) Mini-series: Anne of Green Gables (1985), Pride and Prejudice (1995), Scener ur ett äktenskap (1973–1975) Video: Playboy: The Best of Pamela Anderson (1995 Video), T2 3-D: Battle Across Time (1996 Video), The Godfather Trilogy: 1901-1980 (1992 Video) TV movie: How the Grinch Stole Christmas! (1966 TV Movie), A Charlie Brown Christmas (1965 TV Movie) TV episode: Babylon 5 (1993–1998) Episode: The Gathering (1993) TV series: Due South (1994–1999) Less than 25 000 votes: https://www.imdb.com/list/ls003569487/?st_dt=&mode=detail&page=1&ref_=ttls_ref_rt_vt&sort=list_order,asc&num_votes=%2C25000 (The list hasn't been updated since 2015, but nor have the criteria so regarding those specific titles it should be complete). Films were kicked out of the top in 2012 when IMDb rose the minimum number of votes from 3000 to 25 000. According to https://brightlightsfilm.com/tracking-mass-ideology-on-imdbs-top-250-how-shifts-in-societal-values-appear-in-the-popular-film-canon/#.YPT73OhKg2w, it represents 23 films, a part of them must be in the list of 74 films that I gave you above and excluded before this date for other reasons. But, other films, like The Passion of Joan of Arc, Tokyo Story, Fanny, and Alexander that have now reached 25 000 votes, have also been excluded by this rule. All these films were replaced by others. The Top 250 has changed a lot in 25 years. The consequences of these changes are so many and varied that my knowledge of English isn't sufficient to describe them. In brief, comparing years without any filters is irrelevant.
