Poll suggestion: Face-Off: Paul McCartney Feat. Michael Jackson vs Michael Jackson Feat. Paul McCartney

Before fighting over the rights to Beatles songs, Sir Paul and King-of-Pop Michael collaborated on a couple of songs, each one completing an LP for each of them. UPDATED (29/9/2025): as the MJ video seems not to be official, the poll should be about the songs and not the videoclips... I updated the list to: https://www.imdb.com/list/ls4102763877

Since you added a description in Say, Say, Say, you might want to do the same for The Gilr is Mine Also, you should add Face-Off to your list title.

I think the video for The Girl Is Mine is likely unofficial and not released in the 80s.

I was released, but the video was not very "elaborated"

I just asked chatgpt: "I just want to know whether there is an official music video for the McCartney/Jackson song The Girl Is Mine that both of them filmed specifically for the song." Chatgpt answered (after a short research): "There is no officially produced music video for “The Girl Is Mine” that Michael Jackson and Paul McCartney specifically filmed for the song. Wikipedia notes that footage of both artists during the recording session exists, but it has never been released. Reports in forums say that the currently available videos are either fan-made or use behind-the-scenes material (such as Ola Ray from the Thriller video), but they are not formal music videos for the track. The YouTube upload labeled “Official Video” is not an authentic, officially produced music video. It is most likely a fan edit or assembled footage. In short: A genuine official music video for “The Girl Is Mine” was never made." I know for "Say Say Say" there was a video. Maybe it's better to make a poll about the two songs themselves - and using the wildcards you already have assembled? Just the point about naming 2 music videos would have to be changed, because there is no official music video for the second song. People may wonder, what do you mean with the music video, which doesn't really exist and could feel lead astray.

I see... if this is true, then I think this poll suggestion has no sense... and the imdb credit should be deleted

Maybe not about the videos. But it could still make sense comparing these two songs with Wildcards and not related to the second video. When you look at the title, "Girl" is written wrong! It says "Gilr". There must have someone being sleeping on IMDb when that happened. Normaly things are checked on IMDb. Empresso Productora = Epic Records. Both songs came over structures from Epic Record, so I don't know if someone from Epic Records has put that oneline. So it might be true stuff, but never released. After all you can still make a music poll on these two songs with other wildcards, maybe one with an image of McCartney and one with Michael Jackson. If you change the question to (just as an example): Which of these songs was better? You could also put a third wildcard in it and say "I like them equally." in the option.

Looks better. Could you please do two things: Please also delete the old link in the intro of that thread. People could take the wrong list-link. And please delete /es-es in the link, because it leads to an Espanol form of the list. Not so many people are able to speak Espanol. If it is ... https://www.imdb.com/list/ls4102763877 ... the people around the world get it in English. Thank you. :D

I wonder what further music he would have made if he didn't already have passed. He was a music genius together with Quincy Jones. That was legendary.

Done... Thanks a lot... Most probablly he would still be the "king of pop"

I'm not sure about that. The scandals he provoked caused severe damage on his reputation. He was King of Pop and he deserved it, but he also was a tragic guy with heavily ups and downs. I blame it to the music industry which unethically exploited a very young child (Jackson 5) and had no shame about. He went nuts, because he had not enough healthy environment as a kid, he was in need of an appropriate place for being a child. You can hear it by his voice in his sad ballads. There is such a deep craving desire of what he missed. It's not good for kids to have such unhealthy success. No!

Alberto, I just looked closer to your suggestion. I saw 2 things which are a little surplus. (a nice videoclip was filmed) and (There are some non official videos of the recording session). These two texts in the gaps are doubled in the options. I would skip the gaps in the intro and concentrate these points in the options. I think option #1 is ok so far, I would edit the text in option #2 to : The Girl is Mine (The non official videos of the recording session) And I guess it would look better to make one block of the intro from "Before fighting ..." to "...included "The Girl is Mine"". That's because the new design doesn't show as many lines as before they changed it.

Sure... thanks for your comments.I think I have changed everything. It surely happens that many artist have difficult and "non conventional" young ages... It is difficult to know how much they or their art were influenced by it...

Your welcome.:D "It surely happens that many artist have difficult and "non conventional" young ages... It is difficult to know how much they or their art were influenced by it... " Many of youngsters that are not embeded in an environment that keep them from damage suffer from this fate. Like e.g. Macaulay Culkin. He is an actor who had strong success when very young, later press reported about his alcohol and drug abuse. River Pheonix, Britney Spears, and some others also didn't cope with their strong success from begin. River Pheonix even had an overdose and sadly passed at the age of 23. Thank you for making your suggestion more appropriat to choose. I for myself also had the problem trying to make all things properly explained and often doubled contents in the intro and the text. Of course I got corrected by other members. I'm a little more trained now, but still my language lacks and I often need to be corrected myself. But I learn. Life is a learning process until the end. It's fun to spend time here.

Alberto, I just saw one last thing: It's also shown in the answere chatgpt did. There have to be quotation marks on song titles. So it should be "Say Say Say" and "The Girl Is Mine". Btw, I took a little research in the two titles: There is no comma in "Say Say Say" (intro/options). I think it should be able to release then. If they do that is not in my hands.

Done! Thanks again... I saw it both ways (with and without commas)

Thank you, Alberto. That's very kind of you. Since there was an "es-es" in the link before, I guess you are from Spain? I love Spain's ESC-songs. Like Italy, they always do great! At least the last years. Powerful, charming, a comucopia of life in voice and music.

Yes... I'm Spanish... and now I'm living not far from Madrid... ESC is always fun to watch... Everyyear at home we do a score poll while watching and criticizing... Its always a different Saturday night
