Poll Suggestion: Memorable Torso Movie Scenes

Some are hairy, some are fleshy, some are muscular, some are just the way they are and that's enough to make the scene memorable.

Which of these memorable torso scenes (apart from boxing films or love scenes) is your favorite?

I made a few changes in the text and added "Name of the Rose" but if Breu could give me a funny subtitle to the picture, it would be great...

Pretty sure I'm missing some classic scenes here...

@ElMaruecan82 :

"Damn! I forgot to turn off the stove(/Iron/faucet)"

"Damn, that's cold!"

"Woo-Ouch! I hate that bum! He always puts his electric eels in my bathtub!"

I can think of some other, if there doesn't fit any of them. ;D

@ElMaruecan82,

FYC, I would update the poll title to be specific, Most Memorable Male Torso Movie Scene, as well as, in the poll header's title and question.

I found both to be misleading, as a number of female torso scenes (clothed, partially clothed, and topless) sprang to mind, based on how both the title and question are written. That said, I think a tasteful "Most Memorable Female Torso Movie Scene" poll is a possibility. In fact, some might call it sexist not to offer the ladies equal consideration. There are some really notable scenes listed, but there are also some equally memorable scenes that are ommitted due to the sexist slant.

My suggestions for the male poll scenes are:

Mike Myers in 'The Spy Who Shagged Me' (topless)
Mike Myers in 'Goldmember' (topless)

My initial suggestions for the female poll scenes are:

Jane Russell's barn scene in 'The Outlaw'

Jennifer Beals' water scene in 'Flashdance'

Janet Leigh's shower scene in 'Psycho' (topless)

Kate Winslet's flying bow and drawing scenes (topless) in 'Titanic'

Annie Wood's body anomally scene in 'Good Luck Chuck' (topless)

Ursula Andress' beach surf scene in 'Dr. No'

Halle Berry's lingerie with a wire scene in 'Swordfish'

Phone Cates' pool fantasy scene in 'Fast Times at Ridgemont High' (topless)

Joy Harmon's car washing scene in 'Cool Hand Luke'

@ElMaruecan82,

I think it the selection of answers well-done. There are a lot great male choices. I am trying to think if there was classic movie male "shirtless" moment that caused a brouhaha (and a subsequent three-year ban from theaters) like Jane Russell's The Outlaw scene did.

Although the film was completed in February 1941, Hughes had trouble getting it approved by the Hollywood Production Code Administration due to its emphasis on and display of Russell's breasts.

The resulting controversy created enough interest to get The Outlaw into theaters for one week in 1943, and then it was pulled due to violations of the Production Code. The film was released widely on April 23, 1946, when RKO Radio Pictures premiered the film in San Francisco, where it became a box-office hit. By the end of 1946, the film had earned $3 million in domestic rentals.

@ElMaruecan82,

I am not sure if this pre-code film was controversial. But, I got think the shirtless aspect was novel in its day and part of the appeal to get women in theaters. It was the first film in the long running 'Tarzan' series and made Johnny Weissmuller a 30s Hollywood star. As the granddaddy to all shirtless movie scenes that came after, it should be worthy of a male memorable spot in the pool.

The film, Tarzan the Ape Man's popularity probably was partly responsible for the backlash (see below) that sparked the rigid enforcement over the next three decades of Hayes Code aka Motion Picture Production Code and its "licentious or suggestive nudity" clause. This happened shortly after the film's release in theaters.

Beginning in late 1933 and escalating throughout the first half of 1934, American Roman Catholic launched a campaign against what they deemed the immorality of American cinema. This, plus a potential government takeover of film censorship and social research seeming to indicate that movies which were seen to be immoral could promote bad behavior, was enough pressure to force the studios to capitulate to greater oversight.
