You've just been accused of a crime - no, wait, come back! I'm creating a scenario here, you're fine! Okay, let's start over:

You've just been accused of a crime. But you didn't do it! Which of these television detectives would you trust to clear your name?

Suggestions welcome, just post a link to the image and tell me who the detective is, cause I may not know.  :)

Isn't there a way to narrow the scope of this question? If you included every TV crime solver ever you'd have literally thousands of options.

Here are some existing polls that seem to cover the same ground:

Thank you, Jen.  Well, this is not just "duos" I'm doing.  And it's not all classic T.V. vs. New.  I'm just going with some well known ones, and stop there.

I understand. But like I said above - how are you going to narrow this down? With literally 1000s of characters fitting the bill, you'll have tons of voters asking, "why didn't you include x, y, z, etc."

404 Error when you click on the link.

Since I can't click on your list, I would hope it includes:

The Jeremy Brett played "Sherlock Holmes" (on BBC from 1984 to 1994... they filmed ALL of the Conan Doyle novels and short stories).  This Sherlock Holmes is more accurate and better than the two more modern iterations of the character... and the acting is far superior!  The link is to the first 13 episodes:  https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0086661/?ref_=nm_flmg_job_1_accord_1_cdt_t_11

The IMF team from "Mission Impossible."  It was a good television series long before it was a bad movie series.  https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0060009/?ref_=nv_sr_srsg_9_tt_8_nm_0_in_0_q_Mission%20Impossible

I know that he was supposed to be a lawyer, but "Perry Mason" investigated and then solved the crimes.  This was a long running television series and then became a long running series of made-for-television movies.   https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0050051/?ref_=nv_sr_srsg_0_tt_8_nm_0_in_0_q_Perry%20Mason

The author hasn't been active for years. She deleted the list. The thread was bumped because of a spam comment.

@Jessica   Okay, thanks.  I saw that the thread had been bumped and assumed that someone was trying to make it active again.

I’d probably go with Columbo. He doesn’t rely on flashy methods, but his attention to small details and the way he patiently puts the pieces together would make him someone I’d trust if I were wrongly accused. Monk would also be a strong choice, especially for noticing details everyone else overlooks.
