In January 2024, the Safdie brothers, who have been making films together since childhood, announced plans to direct films separately in the future. Josh Safdie and Benny Safdie, collaborators over nearly three decades, are best known for their joint direction of 'The Pleasure of Being Robbed' (2008), 'Daddy Longlegs' (2009), 'Lenny Cooke' (2013), 'Heaven Knows What' (2014), 'Good Time' (2017), and 'Uncut Gems' (2019). The indie filmmakers claim the split is amicable and a natural progression in their lives that allows each the freedom to direct independently and explore topics that they individually want to pursue.
