credit category resets when I request desktop website on Safari for iPadOS
I'm browsing with Safari 17 for iPadOS. On Steven Spielberg's page, I've selected the filter button under "Credits". In the pop-up, I select "by Credit Category". Then ATS opens with Steven Spielberg selected but no credit category. If I select to "Request Desktop Website", the page reloads to display search filters with all filters reset. So there's no way to open ATS and select "by Credit Category" on iPad.

I am writing this on an iPad and it works fine here. The IMDb site is now fully responsive and should work at all screensizes so not sure why the name page is not already in a desktop view. What happens if you request the desktop view on Spielberg’s page and then select the “by Credit Category” there to reach ATS already in desktop view? What happens if you load https://www.imdb.com/search/title/?role=nm0000229&explore=credits directly on your iPad?
It sounds like you may have configured something on your iPad to force it into a mobile view when that should not be necessary. Perhaps try searching for solutions to this aspect of the problem?
