Explanations of references required?
I know that in the early years of IMDb, it was not required to provide an explanation for references submitted to the Movie Connections section. I don't remember when that changed, but I know it did change, such that if you see a "Referenced in" connection and the title making the reference is from 2003 or later, it will almost certainly have an explanation of what the reference was.
But apparently, the rules changed back, so that explanations of references are now optional again?
For example:
"The Flight Attendant" (2020) {Mushrooms, Tasers, and Bears, Oh My! (#2.2)}: This 2022 episode references The Wizard of Oz (1939) without an explanation.
"Late Night with Seth Meyers" (2014) {Jane Fonda/Yamiche Alcindor (#7.98)}: This 2020 episode references Point Break (1991) without an explanation.
Could the staff please make explanations of "references" connections mandatory again? Thanks.

Both items have reasons, but they are not displayed. The reasons both include name links, so that may be the cause.
