Export not working for some lists

On the Firefox browser, lists with an accented character in their title refuse to download, generating error

Secure Connection Failed

Here are 3 such lists:

Opera Performances starring Plácido Domingo

Pepé Le Pew - as voiced by Mel Blanc

Looney Tunes Super Stars: Pepé Le Pew - Zee Best of Zee Best (the DVD)

I'm able to download them in Chrome.

@bderoes and IMDb Staff,

I'm getting this error message for @bderoes' lists in Firefox:

Opera Performances starring Plácido Domingo

Pepé Le Pew - as voiced by Mel Blanc

Looney Tunes Super Stars: Pepé Le Pew - Zee Best of Zee Best (the DVD)

Secure Connection Failed

An error occurred during a connection to www.imdb.com.

The export for these three lists work fine for Microsoft Edge and Google Chrome.

I'm using the latest versions of the operating system and each of these browsers:

Windows 10 Version 22H2

Firefox Version 107.0.1 (64-bit)

Google Chrome Version 108.0.5359.99 (Official Build) (64-bit)

Microsoft Edge Version 108.0.1462.46 (Official build) (64-bit)

Hi @bderoes & @dan_dassow -

I checked said lists and it does let me export them, also using chrome.

Would you mind taking a screenshot of the error you are getting?

Also can you try deleting cache and cookies and trying again?

Thanks!

@Bethanny

The problem is only on Firefox.

I'm using Windows 11, Firefox 107

Same result after clearing cookies/site data.
Bethany, please try a second time; this morning I was able to do it once for one of the files, but not since. (I found the problem the first time yesterday.)
When I remove the special character in the list name, the download works fine.
BTW, I'm almost certain this sort of thing has occurred before. The last time I think it was the presence of a comma in the list title.

@bderoes Sorry not sure why I thought it was Chrome, tried with Firefox and got the same error. I have now reported the issue to our tech team, will let you know as soon as I have any updates.

Cheers!

@bderoes Hey!

Can you check if the issue persists?

It does. Remember, it's a Firefox-only problem.

Here are direct links so you can check it more easily yourself.

@bderoes and @Bethanny ,

The exports now work for me using Firefox.

@Bethanny

After Dan reported success, I noticed there was a Firefox update available.

I did the update to Firefox 108, no success.

I cleared cache and cookies, no success.

Still the same error message as reported originally.

Recall that I'm on Windows 11; Dan's on Windows 10.

@bderoes We tried with different versions of Firefox and even I was getting the same error before but not anymore. We are not being able to recreate the problem.

@Bethanny

I've tried rebooting my computer, disabling extensions and plug-ins, using a private window.

In the private window, I'm getting inconsistent results: usually it downloads, but sometimes not. The most consistent failure in private window is if I disable the Widevine Content Decryption Module provided by Google Inc.. Ironically, while that's disabled, the export works in a non-private window.

It's only these 3 lists with the accented characters in the title.

Obviously I can change their names.

Please advise.

Dealing with Mozilla and Google is often frustrating, because they don't always comply with standards. Maybe even Apple and Microsoft aren't 100% either, but probably they fare better.

@bderoes Maybe try changing the names, but from our side we tried with the specific lists and it's working just fine.
