idea to encourage contributors

I'd like to propose an idea, which is that IMDb removes the possibility that just any user - with impunity and completely random - can mark the contributions of faithful and knowledgeable users as non-useful via an idiotic "thumbs down". I'm mainly talking about the user reviews, trivia, and goofs. Why don't you just keep the "like" / "thumbs up" option? Let's be honest, no one uses the dislike button because they genuinely don't find it useful (what does that imply, anyway?). People click on dislike because they disagree with the opinion or rating given, because they like to put down the work of others while never doing anything themselves, or because they hold a grudge against certain reviewers for some obscure reason. My idea/proposal is: just remove that "thumbs down" button! Only keep the thumbs up, so that people can continue to reward reviews & trivia and positively motivate people to keep contributing. If they don't agree with a review or a trivia element, then they should just read over it, but DON'T dislike. By the way, here on the community forum you can only give likes. Isn't it a bit hypocritical not to want to get negative feedback here?

Do any of the IMDb administrators even still bother to read or respond? No wonder everyone I know switches to Letterboxd ...
