IMDb Find (search result) Page Redesign

IMDb Find (search result) Page Redesign

We are excited to announce IMDb’s Find Page redesign. The modernized page is meant to make your IMDb search experience fast, responsive, and accessible. The new Find Page facilitates localized search terms and results, enabling search in various scripts and relevant results that account for different languages and grammar types.

In the coming months, we will continue to update IMDb pages throughout the site. We hope you enjoy these latest and upcoming improvements, and thank you for continuing to make IMDb the world’s most trusted source for movie, TV, and entertainment content.

What do you consider the Find Page?

I am guessing this involves the (non-Advanced) search engine page.

Changes have been ongoing to the design of this page as well as the search engines that power it for the past several months

@bderoes Hi! We mean the search result page, also known as find page. Have updated it to make it clear.

Cheers!!

@Bethanny

But ATS also gives search results.

So your clarification is not as effective as keyword_expert's citing the URL.

And as K_E said, the changes have been ongoing for months, hence my wondering what exactly was being announced here.

@bderoes Hi!

I am glad @keyword_expert 's answer helped clarify.

We did an announcement as we continue to make back-end updates, based on feedback and bug reports to the feature, that way we can collect feedback and bug reports in one place.

Thanks!

@Bethanny

Since my other thread on this has been closed, I would like to repeat a request made there. Specifically, I think IMDb should fix one aspect of the new search engine for keyword searches.

When one searches for a keyword, if there is one or a couple exact matches, those exact match(es) should be listed right at the very top of the "popular" results. Unfortunately the new search engine is not set up that way, which leads to confusing results.

For example, if you search for "esp" the keywords esp (75 titles) and e.s.p. (5 titles) are not listed until results #3 and #12, respectively, in the results. Yet they should be listed #1 and #2.

Search "esp"

Keywords

Exact matches

"esp" and "e.s.p." are definitely considered the exact results, since they are the only two keywords depicted when you click "Exact matches" from that prior search.

Again, any and all exact matches should always be listed at the very top of the popular search results. I am sure this would be an easy fix to make, and there is no question it should be made.

Here's another example. The term searched for, "watching a movie at home," does not appear until #13 in the popular search results. It should be listed #1.

Search "watching a movie at home"

Exact matches

@keyword_expert Hey!

Yes this comments were actually passed on to the team in charge since your last post, no worries.

That third result seems to be a merged name page.
Note: This comment was created from a merged conversation originally titled bug with new search pages?

I thought this thread had been deleted and was wondering why it would have been deleted. But it seems it was actually merged. When a thread is merged we can't see it on our Sprinklr profile page and can't find it. That's bad, looks like a bug.
