IMDb Launches Redesigned Showtimes & Ticketing Experience

We are excited to announce the launch of IMDb's redesigned showtimes and ticketing experience on imdb.com! The updated interface is designed to make finding showtimes and purchasing movie tickets easier and more enjoyable with a modern, streamlined presentation.

The new experience includes:

* Clean, modern design that prioritizes the most important information
* Enhanced theater and showtime discovery with improved filtering options
* Optimization for browsing on mobile devices
* Clearer presentation of available formats (IMAX, 3D, etc.)
* Prominent display of theater amenities and features

While ticket purchasing is currently available only for customers in the United States and Canada, users in all supported regions can continue to browse local cinemas, movies, and screening times with our enhanced discovery features.

These enhancements reflect feedback from IMDb customers and our in-depth research aimed at creating a more intuitive entertainment discovery and ticketing experience. The redesign maintains all the helpful features you rely on while making the process of finding showtimes and buying tickets more seamless than ever.

We hope you enjoy these latest improvements, and thank you for continuing to make IMDb the world's most trusted source for movie, TV, and entertainment content. As always, we welcome your feedback – please feel free to share your thoughts and suggestions in the comments below.

Hello! Can you add "in watchlist" in the filter "you and this list"? Without the possibility to filter like this the showtimes page has lost all of its interest :/

Hi @Maguelonne, thank you for taking the time to give feedback. I will share your suggestion with the team. Could you elaborate when you say "Without the possibility to filter like this the showtimes page has lost all of its interest" Is there something you could do on the previous version of the page that you can no longer do? Or are you suggesting this as an additional improvement? Thanks

Hello! On the previous version of the page I could see, day by day, which movies from my watchlist were playing around me (by filtering, in the category "You and this list", by "on watchlist"). Now in "You and this list" you can only filter by None / Titles I rated / Titles I didn't rate, and not according to what I want to see!

This problem relates to how titles are listed in the Showtimes & Tickets section. Looking at some theater listings this weekend, I see that one of the titles is displaying as "Episode #5.1". This title is actually an episode of the series "The Chosen" (2017) which is receiving theatrical distribution. The full formatted IMDb title is "The Chosen" (2017) {Episode #5.1 (#5.1)}. For an example of this, see https://www.imdb.com/showtimes/cinema/US/ci31409580/US/89109 . But the same situation applies to theaters throughout the USA where this title is currently playing. I would suggest that "bare" episode titles (without their respective series title) should not be listed in a context where they would not make sense. In the Showtimes & Tickets section, this episode would be recognizable if referred to as "The Chosen: Episode #5.1" but not just as "Episode #5.1". Hi @gromit82, thanks for flagging this display issue with episodes. I have raised it with the team, who are currently looking in it.

Hello again, I wanted to update you to let you know that the issue you reported with the episode text has been updated. You will now see both the Series and Episode text. See https://www.imdb.com/showtimes/US/98121 Both Episode 1 and 3 are currently listed

You seriously got rid of the my most used feature of the website. Now it's just as useless as all other movie sites. You provided a single page with all of my fav theaters showing all of their showtimes so I could just scroll down the list and see everything I needed. Now, there is no way to view it all at a glance. I have to choose to look at each individual theater or each individual movie. I am exhausted just thinking about how much clicking I need to do to see all of the options. Please put it back the way it was!! [reposted from my original account since it made me create an new one yesterday]

Hi sbwinter2a, thank you for taking the time to add your feedback here. You can use the filter options to filter the list of movies to only those playing in you favourite theaters https://www.imdb.com/showtimes/?now_playing=favorite-theaters&sort=popularity%2Casc You can then select the movie you wish to view and click thorough to view the theater and times that it is screening. We have attempted to optimize the experience for the majority of use cases, i.e. 1) Selecting a film to watch and then seeing where it can be viewed and 2) Selecting a theater to go to and looking at what films are available. I understand that your use case 'to see all movies and screening times in my favorite theaters in one place at the same time' is not possible at this time. I hope that the improved UI and browsing experience do something to make up for this.

So your 'improvements' actually removed functionality. You could always just look at one favorite theater or one movie in all favorite theaters - what you are saying is new, is not new at all. What made you stand out was the ability to see ALL of my fav theaters, with their showtimes, on one page, so I could quickly scan through all of them. So, I don't see any improvement at all. I just don't understand why you would remove that display view when it wasn't like it was presenting different content than what is still there.

I came here to say the same thing. This was far and away my most-used function on the site. It’s much less useful if I have to click the name of each theater to see what’s playing.

(FWIW, Fandango’s website lets you see what each theater is showing all on one page. I've always found it less thorough than IMDb, but I’ll be switching over.)

Yes, I am trying to use Fandango now too. Their UI isn't as good though. I don't like the black background. IMDB was pretty perfect for me - condensed list of everything with a white background, plus a way to click to Metacritic (which I prefer).

How do I get the movie theater showtimes format to go back to its old style, where you can see all the movie theater in one long scroll, rather than the new format where you have to individually click on each movie theater to see its showtimes? Hi fleance1, you cannot swtich back to the 'old style'. In the updated experience you can either: (1) Select the movie you want to see, to view all the local theatres that it is showing in; or (2) Select the theater you wish to go to, to view all the movies and screentimes. Please see the original launch announcement above for some extra details above the improvements we have made with the new experience.

Hello, I am based in Ireland. I can get local showtime information on the IMDb app but I can no longer get this information through the website. The location on the website is defaulting to 98121 US (Seattle WA). There is no option to manually choose Ireland as my location. Will this functionality be restored to the IMDb website in the near future? Thanks.

Hi AndyDC, as far as im aware the website continues the support the 13 countries that it did previously. The apps are able to support more locations. Are you saying that you could previously view local showtimes in Ireland on the website? If so, can you provide me with details oh how you could see this? Thank you

Hi Dominic, Yes, I used to be able to view local showtimes for Dublin and other locations in the Republic of Ireland through the IMDb website. I see now that if I select a postal code in Newry, County Down, Northern Ireland, UK (e.g. BT35), I can still see showtime information for cinemas in the Republic of Ireland (including my "favorite theaters"). However, I cannot select Dublin as my location on the IMDb website. The website used to automatically know my location and would display local showtimes. Thanks, Andy
