In Quotes: Stage-direction brackets add unwanted line breaks [formatting]

I did search around for this as a reported issue or established conversation, and didn't see one. Maybe I'm bad at searching or maybe it's the search function, hard to say. Anyway. This is what I'm seeing. I entered a RARE, unusually-long Quote recently between several people that includes a lot of physical (unspoken) indicators that I rendered in square brackets. I just don't like how use of this punctuation for "stage directions" adds line breaks and re-states the Speaker. Example:

Polly: It's too hot in here, I can't get any air.

Polly: [fakes fainting]

Polly: Oh, my stars!

I don't like it for these reasons: It adds unnecessarily to the overall vertical height of the Quote block: by introducing new lines, by breaking my example into three lines, each with space between them too. It breaks up the flow of the exchange and requires more scrolling. And it can be confusing for what should be (in theory) one line, like my example, to be rendered with three Speaker fields listed: that is, three lines in a row starting Polly, in what should be (in theory) continuous.

I would prefer if the use of square brackets didn't introduce line breaks. If I can add this elsewhere as a problem or suggestion, please let me know and pardon my ignorance in advance. Thank you.

Yeah, I'm not sure why that happens.
