My Lists aren't numbering correctly

I have a List called "My In-Progress TV Series" that used to always number correctly (when I add or delete a show or adjust their order). But for a week or so now, the numbers are all screwed up when I'm in editing mode. Some numbers are skipped while others are duplicated. Sometimes there will be a gap in the numbering. And if I add a show and try to number it "1" so it appears at the top, it will instead appear somewhere in the middle of the list, with a different, random number.

Is it possible to fix this, or re-set the numbers somehow? I absolutely don't want to lose this list.

Thanks, but none of the topics listed there address the problems with my list. I've had this problem once before, over two years ago and it had to be fixed internally by the good folks at IMDb.

This is an issue that's been widely reported here over the past few months. Apparently the team needs more time to overhaul the entire listing metadata interface thingy and then lists will start functioning properly again. In their words:

Unfortunately this is a long-standing bug in the lists system which especially affects large lists. The lists system is now over 13 years old and is some of the oldest remaining software on IMDb. We are actively working upon its replacement as part of the on-going design and technology migration, which will address the issues.
