Original release dates

I just looked up a TV show on IMDb and was confused about the incorrect release dates of the episodes. When I checked individual episode pages I saw that it didn't display the original release date but the date it was released in the country I'm currently in.Account settings > Personal settings: Edit your country of residence says "United States" and Account settings > Site Settings > Title display says Country/region: Original and Display language: EnglishHas this always been the case and I only realise it now?

What else do I need to do for the original release dates to be displayed?

The problem occurs in the app as well as the desktop version.

Hello jesus_von_tronje,

The release dates might have not been added yet to this title and this is why they don't show up. As mentioned in the Release Dates guidelines, the country has to be added when adding a release date:

The release date section records when a title was released to the public in a particular country. This means you'll need to select a country from the menu and then specify the release date via the daymonth and year fields.

Feel free to submit any missing Release date to the title.

You didn't understand my question, unfortunately.

Let's use the "LOST" finale as an example.

First of all it's incorrectly listed as two episodes on IMDb while "The End" was originally broadcast as one extra long episode on May 23, 2010.

This is what IMDb currently lists for me:

https://www.imdb.com/title/tt1467635/

The End: Part 1

November 18, 2010 (Germany)

https://www.imdb.com/title/tt15049668/

The End: Part 2

May 23, 2010 (United States)

So one episode correctly lists the original US premiere date, without me having to select a different country, while the other one doesn't.

I want to customise my IMDb account in a way that it displays the original release date of a title in its country of origin, just like I customised my IMDb account to display the original title.

@jesus_von_tronje In theory setting the "Country/Region" on https://www.imdb.com/preferences/general/ to "Original" is supposed to switch the release date display to the earliest.  However, a recently discovered bug seems to have broken this. We have a ticket open (reference #D367467627) to investigate and we will add this thread to the notes there.  Thanks for the problem report.
