Ratings: Unfair Horror Ratings
Does anyone else feel like horror films get a lot of stick on IMDB?
It's well know to anyone who enjoys the genre that unless it's 'mainstream horror', it won't go above 5.5/6. This makes it really difficult for the rest of us to find something worth watching, as the ratings are far too close together in order to tell the difference between the good and the bad.
As what I hope will be the first of many suggestions, I think there should be a system where you either:
Opt in to rating horror movies (in case there are people watching them who don't enjoy the genre in the first place bringing ratings down)
or
Implementing an option when you rate "Have you seen this movie?". That way there's (marginally) less chance of people 'hate rating'.
These are just suggestions which, I'm sure, would take a lot of work. It's a start though right?

Thank you so much for this feedback.
I'm changing this post type to an "Idea" where it can be viewed by other IMDb staff and users for consideration for future updates and improvements to the IMDb sites and applications.
Thanks!
