Jim: If you export a list from IMDb, you need to use a different process to be able to open it with the correct accent marks. These instructions are based on using Microsoft Excel. If you are using a different program someone else may have to help you.
When you export the list, you should have it appear in your Downloads folder in CSV format. Don't open that file directly from the Downloads folder, as that will give you the garbled accent marks.
Instead, open a new blank document in Excel. Select the Data menu, and in the Get & Transform Data tab, select "From Text/CSV".
Select the correct file and then click "Import".
A pop-up box will appear displaying the first few rows of the file (and any accents in those rows should be shown correctly). Click "Load".
The entire file should then display correctly in Excel, including the accent marks.
I hope this helps. Good luck!
