Watchlist: Control default sort order

I actually still do a lot of handwriting on paper, including sometimes backdrafts for certain IMDb lists. 

Glad to hear I'm not alone! 

Why? why not make a temporary, private list on IMDb?

Pa-per, noun, def. old-school technology that future archaeologists will wish had not gone out of style.

Some things never go out of style, like people who prefer to read from hard copy books. :)

PS: I'd probably use IMDb if I could customize the Watchlist the way I want it. Otherwise, writing seems to be easier than clicking multiple buttons when I can just turn a paper and see it.

bderoes, It's just that sometimes physical copy, even as rough as hand-written one will be more reliable. As much as I value digital information and it's capabilities, one hard disk failure is enough to wipe out of existance a lot of really valuable things. 

Also I really like handwriting: it's probably just how my brain works but if I'm doing something, hand-written notes always help me to concentrate. I've even written some of the portions of my Master's thesis by hand and now the same goes for PhD thesis. It's not that I'm saying that typing and digital copies are not a great thing, but for some people, me included, handwriting just gives much more personal connection and makes the brain really process the information.

I absolutely agree that handwriting makes your brain work harder and remember better. I believe there are scientific studies out there proving that.

And if I have to take notes during a conversation, I reach for paper, even when a computer is readily available.

I just don't need the extra memory boost for an IMDb list, which for me is a hobby. 

But I've picked up hints that you're a filmmaker, so this is more your business than your hobby.

I'd say more passion then business. :) So far I only receive freelance gigs which are connected to filmmaking or videography from time to time, while making independent short films, web-series, music videos and a feature film for years actually takes quite a lot of my money. It is kinda hard for me to look at it as a hobby as after doing it since 2002 (slightly more efficiently and actively since 2007) I hope that eventually it will be my more prominent line of work then my professional scientific endeavours (which is political studies in international relations; I still mainly research aspects strongly connected to audio-visual media).  

Notice that this post is an Idea, meaning a suggestion for future development, and that it (by default) pertains to the desktop version of IMDb.

If you're trying to report a bug or make a request in/for one of the Apps (Android or iOS), that should be a different thread.

But looks like nobody reads those suggestions because the post is 3+ years old :D

Quibble: it's only January, and the post won't be 3yrs old until April.

This was one of the features IMDb chose not to re-implement when they did the major back-end revamp, released toward the end of 2017. I don't think I've seen anything that we requested return since then, and with the new home page and new title page designs, you can see they're going a very different, mobile-oriented way.

But you should always make constructive suggestions. I happened on one a while ago that got implemented right away.
