Search by music genre

This is a question related to the Music Department. Is there a way to search movies (past and in production) by music genre? Good question for identifying Music Supervisors who are using music of a particular genre for a film. I don't want to waste people's time by guessing. I am a performing songwriter and producer seeking professional relationships with supes. I seek to provide a service. But even with looking at past placements, it's difficult to know what a person is seeking now.

Thanks for the question - we currently do not filter out music genre that is featured within a movie. I'm converting this question over to an Idea so that users can vote and comment on this for future consideration.

Oh hi @Taylor , that sounds great. Finding a way to sort information from the Music Department may make things easier for Music Supervisors and those wishing to contact them. However, it does involve a certain degree of interpretation; what genre / sub-genre might a particular song be in?

For example, is David Bowie's Fame R&B, New Wave, or Rock - because Bowie is known as a rock musician? It definitely poses some interpretive problems.

But other services have handled this problem. Maybe some of the other members might know what they are. Perhaps those services can be integrated rather than trying to reinvent the wheel.

That would offer opportunity for partnership, which is always good. Using a proven entity might produce the best results for everyone involved.

I am a UX Designer (at times by day) - when I am not producing or pitching music. Anything I can do to help, always happy to do so.
